The G-Wagon price in Kenya starts at about KES 20M for a compliant G400d diesel and reaches KES 36M for a low-mileage G63 AMG. That is the full landed cost, including KRA duty and registration. However, many online listings quote only the car price abroad. Therefore, this guide explains what you will actually pay.
The Mercedes-Benz G-Class is the most recognisable luxury SUV on Kenyan roads. You see it outside hotels in Westlands, on Riverside Drive and on weekend trips to Nanyuki. In fact, few cars hold attention like a G63 on the Nairobi Expressway.
Elisa Motors imports G-Wagons to order from the UK and Japan. We source, inspect, ship, clear and register the car. Furthermore, you get one fixed price in Kenya shillings before you commit.

G-Wagon prices by version
Mercedes G400d price in Kenya
The G400d is the smart buy. Its 2.9-litre straight-six diesel is smooth, strong and far more economical than the V8s. It lands at about KES 20M – 24M. As a result, it is the G-Class we recommend for daily use and long trips to Naivasha or Nakuru.
The older G350d used a V6 diesel. Most G350d units are now outside the 8-year window. However, locally used G350d cars still appear in Nairobi yards, usually at lower prices and with higher mileage.
Mercedes G550 (G500) price in Kenya
The G550 4.0 V8 offers V8 power without the full AMG price. It lands at about KES 22M – 26M. In the UK the same car is badged G500. It is comfortable, fast and quieter than the G63.
Mercedes G63 AMG price in Kenya
The G63 AMG is the icon. Its 4.0-litre biturbo V8 makes 585 hp. It lands at about KES 28M – 36M, depending on year, mileage and options. For example, a car with the Night Package, carbon trim and 22-inch wheels costs more than a basic spec.
Special versions such as the Edition 1, Magno (matte) paint or Brabus conversions add a large premium. We source those on request. Meanwhile, the standard G63 remains the best value for resale.
G-Wagon alternatives
Some buyers want G-Class presence with lower running costs. The Mercedes-Benz GLE lands from KES 10M. Similarly, the seven-seat Mercedes-Benz GLS suits large families. The Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe adds sporty styling.
Outside Mercedes, the Land Rover Defender is the closest rival in style and off-road ability. Alternatively, the Lexus LX offers luxury with Land Cruiser reliability. See all models on our Mercedes-Benz import page.
How KRA calculates G-Wagon duty in Kenya
KRA does not tax the price you paid. Instead, it uses the Current Retail Selling Price (CRSP) list. The G63 has one of the highest CRSP values of any SUV. Therefore, duty is a large share of its landed cost.
The taxes include import duty, excise duty, 16% VAT, the Import Declaration Fee and the Railway Development Levy. Each depends on the CRSP value, engine size and the car's age. We calculate all of it in your quote. Read our import guide for the full breakdown.
Our services: G-Wagon imports across Kenya
We manage every step from the seller to your gate. Here is what Elisa Motors does for G-Class buyers in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret and every other county.
1. G-Wagon sourcing from the UK for Nairobi buyers
The UK has a deep supply of right-hand-drive G-Classes. Many are Mercedes-Benz Certified or approved-used cars with full main-dealer history. In addition, MOT records let us confirm the mileage.
We search dealers and trusted auctions for your exact spec. As a result, you get the colour, wheels and options you want, rather than whatever a local yard has. See our UK import guide for the full process.
2. G-Class import from Japan to Mombasa
Japan is a smaller but excellent source. Japanese G63s often have very low mileage and spotless interiors. Moreover, every auction car comes with a graded condition sheet.
Japanese navigation and radios may need English conversion. We arrange that before delivery. Our Japan import guide explains auction grades in detail.
3. G-Wagon landed cost and CRSP valuation
Our quote shows one figure in KES. It includes the car, freight, marine insurance, all KRA taxes, port charges, clearing and registration. In other words, there are no surprise top-ups at Mombasa.
We also explain how the CRSP value affects your duty. For instance, the G400d pays less tax than the G63. We can quote both so you see the difference clearly.
4. Inspection, history and mileage checks
A G-Class must be bought carefully. Therefore, we check the service history, mileage, paint depth, accident records and the condition of the differentials and suspension.
Every car passes the KEBS-appointed roadworthiness inspection before shipping. Additionally, we send photos and video before purchase. You approve the car, or we keep looking.
5. Secure container shipping to Mombasa
High-value cars like the G63 can ship in a container instead of roll-on/roll-off. Container shipping adds protection from weather and handling. However, it costs more, so we quote both options.
Every shipment carries marine insurance. Meanwhile, we track the vessel and update you on WhatsApp until it berths at Kilindini Harbour.
6. Clearing, registration and delivery in Kenya
Our clearing team handles customs entry, KRA payment and KPA release. Subsequently, we register the car with NTSA and fit plates. You receive the logbook in your name.
We deliver by covered carrier to Nairobi suburbs like Karen, Runda, Muthaiga, Lavington, Kilimani and Kitisuru. We also deliver to Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Meru and the coast, including Nyali, Diani and Malindi.
7. Finance, insurance and trade-in support
Many buyers use bank asset finance for a G-Wagon. We provide pro-forma invoices and supporting documents for your bank. Furthermore, we can connect you with insurers for comprehensive cover and tracking.

G-Wagon running costs in Kenya
Fuel consumption
The G400d returns roughly 9–11 km/L on the highway. In contrast, the G63 AMG returns about 5–7 km/L, and far less in Nairobi traffic. Therefore, the diesel makes sense for daily driving, while the G63 suits weekend use.
Service, parts and specialists
Plan for a major service every 10,000–15,000 km at a Mercedes specialist or the authorised dealer. Genuine parts are expensive, and some must be ordered from abroad. However, a younger, low-mileage car needs far fewer repairs.
Common items include brake pads and discs on the heavy G63, plus suspension bushes on cars used off-road. Similarly, check tyre prices. 22-inch tyres cost much more than 20-inch ones.
Insurance, tracking and security
Insurers require an approved tracker on a G-Class. Comprehensive premiums follow the car's value. For security-conscious clients, we can also source armoured versions on special order.
Is a G-Wagon practical for Kenyan roads?
Yes, more than most luxury SUVs. The G-Class has a ladder frame, three locking differentials and good ground clearance. As a result, it handles murram roads, Mara tracks and Nairobi potholes with ease.
However, it is tall and narrow, so it rolls in fast corners. It also has a firm ride on the AMG. For pure comfort on tarmac, a Range Rover is softer. Compare prices in our Range Rover price guide.
Locally used vs direct import G-Wagon
Locally used G-Wagons trade in Kilimani, Westlands and Mombasa Road yards. Some are excellent. However, many are older W463 models fitted with "new shape" or G63 body kits. In fact, an upgraded G55 can look like a G63 at first glance.
A direct import has a verified first registration date and full history. Moreover, you choose the exact spec. If you buy locally, always check the chassis number, logbook and service records.
G-Wagon model years you can import in 2026
2019–2020 G-Class
These early W463A cars offer the new shape at the lowest price. Early G63s and G500s are common in the UK and Japan. However, early diesels were the G350d, so check the exact version carefully.
Look for cars with full main-dealer history and recent brake and tyre work. As a result, you avoid an expensive first service in Nairobi.
2021–2023 G-Class
From 2021, the G400d diesel arrived in most markets. It quickly became the best seller among practical buyers. Additionally, later cars gained updated infotainment and more driver assistance.
These years strike the best balance between price and age. Consequently, they also resell well in Kenya.
2024 onwards G-Class
The 2024 update brought mild-hybrid tech, new screens and refreshed styling. It costs much more. Still, a low-mileage 2024 G63 holds its value very well.
G-Wagon buying checklist
Run through this list before paying for any G-Class. First, confirm the first registration date is 2019 or later. Second, check the exact version on the VIN, because body kits can disguise older or lower models.
Third, review the service history and mileage records. Fourth, test all three differential locks and the low-range gearbox. Then inspect the brakes, tyres and paint depth for hidden repairs. Finally, compare the total with a fresh import quote from us.
We follow this process on every car. Similarly, we can inspect a local G-Wagon for you before you buy.
G-Wagon prices in Nairobi vs Mombasa
Direct import prices are the same across Kenya. Duty and clearing do not change with your county. Only delivery from Mombasa differs, and it is small next to the car's value.
Showroom prices differ because yards add stocking costs and margin. Therefore, a direct import usually saves money on the same year and spec. Buyers in Kisumu, Eldoret and Nakuru often save the most, since local stock there is rare.
G-Wagon vs Range Rover vs Land Cruiser
These three rule the top of the Kenyan SUV market. The G-Class wins on presence and off-road hardware. However, it is the most expensive to buy and run. The Range Rover wins on ride comfort and cabin space.
The Land Cruiser 300 wins on reliability, parts supply and resale value. Therefore, many buyers choose the Toyota for daily use and keep a G-Wagon for weekends. Compare prices in our Land Cruiser V8 guide.
Will G-Wagon prices drop in Kenya?
G-Wagon prices in Kenya follow three things: the exchange rate, global demand and KRA's CRSP values. Global demand for the G63 stays strong. Therefore, big price drops are unlikely in the short term.
However, older units become cheaper each year as they age. For example, a 2019 car costs less than a 2022 car of the same version. The catch is the 8-year rule. Once a model year falls outside the window, it can no longer be imported. Consequently, the best value often sits in the middle years.
If you are planning ahead, talk to us early. We can track auction prices for your spec and alert you when a good car appears.
Customising your G-Wagon in Kenya
Many owners personalise their G-Class after delivery. Popular upgrades include wheel and tyre packages, tinted windows, ceramic coating and sound system upgrades. Additionally, some owners add roof racks and LED light bars for safari trips.
Be careful with heavy modifications. Big wheels and lowered suspension hurt ride comfort on Kenyan roads. Similarly, unapproved exhaust changes can affect your warranty and insurance. We can source factory options before shipping, which is usually cheaper and safer.
G-Wagon delivery areas in Kenya
We serve G-Wagon buyers in every major town. In Nairobi, that includes Westlands, Karen, Runda, Muthaiga, Gigiri, Lavington, Kileleshwa, Upper Hill and Syokimau. Nearby, we cover Kiambu, Ruiru, Thika, Kitengela and Machakos.
Upcountry, we deliver to Nakuru, Naivasha, Eldoret, Kisumu, Kericho, Nyeri, Nanyuki and Meru. At the coast, we serve Mombasa, Nyali, Bamburi, Diani, Kilifi and Malindi.
